FUTURE WORKFORCE FOR CONTRACTORS

Looking for your future workforce in construction?  Want to provide an opportunity to train future employees?

There are several opportunities for WCCA Members to involve the future workforce through WCCA programs!

  • Join the WCCA Education Committee!  Let us know you are interested to put you on the committee email list.  The committee meets once per quarter to help direct WCCA efforts.
  • Western Colorado Construction Career Day (Mesa County) – This is a one-day hands-on experience for 11th grade students from School District 51.  Contractors hold hand-on stations to make a lasting impression on students and encourage them to enter the construction industry.
  • Hire a student for internship!  Interns can be paid or receive class credit through their school.  Click on the button below for the Construction Internships 101 presentation.

US 50 LITTLE BLUE CREEK CANYON IMPROVEMENTS (Gunnison/Montrose Counties)

Starting in April 2021, the Federal Highway Administration, Central Federal Lands Highway Division and the Colorado Department of Transportation are starting a 4-mile roadway project on US 50 approximately 30 miles from Montrose and Gunnison.

With the much needed Federally funded repairs and redesign of the roadway there are several things to know before you travel or plan around this project.  See below for information on Closure Times, Resources regarding this project, and Sign up for text alerts.

In November of 2020, the project plans for the US Little Blue Creek Canyon Improvements were introduced to the community.  WCCA submitted member concerns which helped factor into adjustments made by the governing entities  to help minimize closure times, plan for community needs and to create public information outlets to answer questions and to address concerns and update the community .  WCCA will continue to work with CDOT and FHWA to express concerns of our members and productively collaborate on possible solutions when available.

This year WCCA has opened the event to 26 team slots for morning trap shoot with team check in starting at 7am, trap event 8-11am, open to all WCCA members.  The After Party will be held at the Ale House in Grand Junction restricted to current COVID regulations.   

  • 5 Man Team Registration – Must be a WCCA Member to register team.
  • Each registered shooter in event receives breakfast, 2 boxes of shells; One entry into drawing; one wrist band to After Party at Ale House (includes 2 drink tickets)
  • Personal Eye/Ear Protection Required for Safety
  • 7-8 shots only
  • Mulligans and Limited Rent-A-Ringer participants available – One mulligan per person allowed (5 max per team) proceeds benefit MC 4-H Shooting Club
  • 2- Annie Oakley Bonus Rounds after Tournament- donations from participants to benefit MC 4-H Shooting Club. Sign up at event $5 per person per person per bonus round.
  • Cash Awards/ Drawing Prizes Announced at After Party at Ale House. At least one new shotgun is sponsored for the event drawing.
  • After Party at the Ale House following the tournament (11:30-3pm) Additional Wrist Band Purchase available to all members and guests $10/each (2 drink tickets included with each)

This year’s donations from this event will benefit the Mesa County 4-H Shooting Sports.
