Colorado Unified Certification Program Accepting DBE Reevaluations and New DBE Applications- what you need to know:
| The January 16 deadline has passed for previously certified DBE firms to submit a reevaluation application and remain on the Colorado DBE directory. However, if you missed the deadline, you can still submit your Personal Narrative and Personal Net Worth Statement to be reconsidered under the new eligibility requirements. The Colorado UCP is encouraging all firms to submit this information to your certifying agency as soon as possible to allow for a timely review.
Timeline for Reevaluation Process The Colorado UCP is working as quickly as possible to complete the DBE reevaluation effort. Firms that submitted by January 16 are being prioritized. Any submissions received after that date will be placed at the end of the queue. Due to the volume of submissions, this process may take several months to complete. Notifications to DBEs · If you did not submit your reevaluation by January 16, you will receive a delisted letter. This does not mean you have been formally decertified. Your firm is only temporarily removed from the DBE directory until your reevaluation is complete. · If you did submit your reevaluation application, you will be notified via a determination letter whether or not you meet the new DBE eligibility requirements. · Even after receiving your determination letter, the DBE program will remain on hold until all firms in the Colorado DBE directory have been reevaluated. The Colorado UCP will notify firms when the reevaluation process in Colorado is complete. Personal Narrative: Key Guidelines for Success The required Personal Narrative allows reviewers to understand how your individual experiences have directly affected your ability to compete fairly in the marketplace. If you haven’t submitted it yet and have questions, here are some helpful tips to guide you: · Focus on you as an individual, not your business. · Address how you meet the eligibility standards – not why the DBE program should continue or how it has impacted you. · Stay factual and neutral; avoid assumptions about identity. · Avoid general or unsupported claims. · Share experiences that directly connect to economic harm. · Emphasize patterns of chronic and substantial disadvantage, not isolated or speculative incidents. · If you used AI, review your narrative carefully to ensure accuracy and compliance with eligibility standards.
