CONSTRUCTION CAREER DAY

Western Colorado Contractor’s Association and many community partners including Ute Water, Mesa County Fairgrounds, CDOT, have joined forces to bring hundreds of high school juniors to the Mesa County Fairgrounds to provide a hands-on experience of the construction industry and construction related careers. Throughout the day, students are exposed to niche construction careers that encourages a higher education including trade school, on-the-job learning, or a college degree.

Students have an opportunity to learn about  the variety of niche construction related career opportunities, as well as trades, safety, instructional lab, and utilities. Students will be able to identify the importance of the construction industry and construction related careers and the different paths to success to achieve a meaningful career

HANDS ON EXPERIENCE

Presentations are structured to the eleventh grade learning level, which allows the students to retain the information in a hands on and educational manner. Through the mentorship of the presentations, students will receive a hands-on experience with Western Colorado construction professionals that exemplify a successful career in the industry.

HIGHER EDUCATION/ ADVANCED OPPORTUNITIES

CORE VALUE

For many students,  this event will give them a glimpse of the options that they have in pursing a higher education, including trade school, on-the-job learning, or a college education.
